Swing Weight Calculator

Golf Club Swing Weight Calculator

Whether you are building a new set of clubs or fine-tuning your current gamer, understanding swing weight helps you keep a consistent feel. Swing weight measures how the weight is distributed, or how heavy the club feels during the swing, not its static weight.

Use this tool to estimate swing weight from your measurements, then record each club in the spec sheet.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter total weight. Weigh the full club and enter the value. Select grams (g) or kilograms (kg).
  2. Measure the balance point. Balance the club on a thin edge, then measure from the grip butt to the balance point in inches. You can enter 23 1/2 or 23.5.
  3. Click Calculate to add the club to your spec sheet.

Understanding your results

  • Swing Weight shows an alphanumeric value like D2.
  • Each swing weight point is roughly 2 grams at the head.
  • Results are estimates. A physical swing weight scale is the standard for final verification.
Technical note for builders
Industry 14-inch fulcrum formula used here:
Swing Weight (Points) = ((Weight × (Balance Point − 14)) − 6050) / 50
